The Merrimac 150th Celebration Committee on June 29 approved a Passport Thru Merrimac event for Oct. 17, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers said participants will visit eight locations to collect stamps and key-chain charms as part of a scavenger-hunt-style history tour of Merrimac.
Michelle Gustison, committee member, moved to purchase supplies to create 75 passport booklets and 75 key-chain charms for participants; Julie Fisher seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The minutes note that 75 passports will be sold in advance, that participants who complete stamps can win a prize, and that committee members will identify community groups to host or man the eight stamp locations.
Cindy Quinn was assigned responsibility for researching and coordinating staffing for the Passport event. The minutes also list follow-up items for logistics and outreach; committee members will report back at the next meeting on July 23.
