Merrimac 150th committee sets Block Party Food Truck Festival for Sept. 26

The Merrimac 150th Celebration Committee voted on June 29 to hold a Block Party Food Truck Festival on Sept. 26, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Waterhouse Field, with a planned lineup of more than 15 food trucks, artisans, vendors, a kid zone and picnic area. The committee recorded the date and event scope and requested volunteers to assist with logistics.

Michelle Gustison, committee member, moved to book a porta-potty vendor; Julie Fisher, committee member, seconded the motion, which passed unanimously with all seven members voting aye. The committee also approved a motion to book two four-person golf carts to support event operations, again by unanimous vote (mover: Michelle Gustison; seconder: Julie Fisher). The motions were recorded in the meeting minutes as approved without dissent.

Separately, the committee approved sponsoring a balloon art vendor for Old Home Days movie night; that sponsorship motion was moved by Michelle Gustison and seconded by Julie Fisher and passed unanimously. The sponsorship and vendor approvals are intended to support family-friendly programming tied to the town’s 150th anniversary activities.

The committee assigned operational tasks to members: Robert L. Gustison II is to contact local businesses about parking, coordinate a safety meeting with Larry Fisher and Chief Sheers, and book the golf cart vendor; Michelle Gustison will finalize the porta-potty booking and ask about cancellation policies in case of rain, determine balloon-vendor pricing, and contact a band; Larry Fisher will confirm dumpster donation possibilities and vendor rain contingencies. The meeting minutes record other follow-ups including contacting the Merrimac Valley Concert Band and confirming performance times with D’Angelis studio.

The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for July 23 at 6:00 PM at the Merrimac Fire Department Conference Room, where members expect to report back on vendor pricing and safety logistics.
