The Community Choice Schools Commission's fundraising committee announced on Dec. 9 that the Bradley Foundation has accepted a $200,000 grant to support the commission's work in 2026.
"The grant is for 20 or $200,000," Taylor Ramos said, summarizing the award and its intended uses: development of a year‑0 program to help founders build academic, operational and financial policies; retention of the planning director; and public relations and community outreach across Montana. The year‑0 program is described as a year‑long set of supports — workshops, guidebooks and trainings — aimed at helping founder teams open strong.
The committee also said it will register with SAM.gov early in 2026 to apply for federal Charter Schools Program funds; staff noted that recent federal administrative changes moved CSP administration but said the Department of Education personnel supporting the program are expected to remain in place. Treasurer John Rutt told members the commission’s prior two‑year revenue (excluding the new grant) was $327,500, with current operating expenses at about $185,324.93 and an ending balance of $142,175.07 as of Nov. 5, 2025.
Commissioners said the grant will allow the commission to cover operating needs through the next year and to invest in founder supports; members emphasized that early schools will be highly visible and that quality supports are essential. The fundraising committee will present implementation plans and budget details in upcoming meetings.
