The United Nations' human rights colleagues reported on July 16 that a gang known as 'Village du Dure' carried out a series of attacks between 4–9 July in areas of the Port‑au‑Prince metropolitan area, including Kentskoff and Pétion‑Ville.
The attacks killed at least 61 residents, including 14 children, and displaced about 5,840 people. The violence concentrated in the community of Rabanne, where most casualties were recorded. Homes and telecommunications infrastructure were reported destroyed.
Although the last documented attack occurred on July 9, the press office said the security situation remains tense with gang members continuing to maintain a presence in Kentskoff. The UN called for protection of civilians and increased efforts to stabilize affected communities.
