Volunteer group urges Gibson County to intervene as animal-shelter staff and operations face scrutiny

Keri asked the county to step in immediately, noting funding to finish the current building remains a concern and questioning whether the shelter can absorb higher electric and maintenance costs at a new, larger facility. She told commissioners volunteers and members of the public had attempted to raise issues previously and urged the county to ensure animal welfare and staff safety.
The Chair thanked Keri and the council recorded no formal action on the item at the meeting; commissioners asked staff to review the concerns and the materials the volunteer group submitted by email and to bring clarifying information back to a future meeting.
