Quinton approves $63,305 bond ordinance, several staffing and engineering measures

Quinton Township Committee on May 20 approved a bond ordinance to fund various capital improvements and adopted multiple resolutions, each passed on 2–0 roll call votes.
Ordinance No. 2026-07, moved by Deputy Mayor James Smith and seconded by Mayor Joseph Hannagan, appropriates $63,305 for capital improvements and authorizes the issuance of up to $60,139 in general obligation bonds or bond anticipation notes. The motion passed on roll-call votes of Smith and Hannagan recorded as 'aye.'
The committee also voted to defer consideration of architect proposals for the municipal building roof replacement under Resolution No. 2026-76. The same vote pattern carried two additional measures: Resolution No. 2026-77 to appoint a part-time clerical assistant and Resolution No. 2026-78 to authorize the appointment of a land engineer for Block 14, Lot 4. All three measures were moved by Smith and seconded by Hannagan and were approved by the two members present.
During the meeting the clerk’s office presented two scheduling items that the committee adopted: hosting a Local Government Dinner at the Salem River Inn on Oct. 22, 2026, and rescheduling the July 7 regular township meeting to June 30, 2026. Those items were approved by the same 2–0 vote.
The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
Votes and motions recorded on the May 20 agenda show the committee acted unanimously among its members present; one committee member, Marjorie L. Sperry, was listed as absent on the roll call.
