Eldred Central School District Board elects Scott Halleck president, approves appointments and new meeting schedule

At its reorganizational meeting the Eldred Central School District Board elected Scott Halleck president, installed Elizabeth Dearmond as vice president, approved clerk and treasurer appointments and set regular meeting dates (Aug. 27, Sept. 15, Oct. 15) with a new start time of 5:30 p.m.
President Scott Halleck was elected by voice vote and sworn in at the start of the Eldred Central School District Board of Education’s reorganizational meeting. The board also installed Elizabeth Dearmond as vice president and administered the oath of office to newly seated member Meg Blount.
The board approved routine governance appointments for the 2026–27 school year. Lisa Siversus was appointed district clerk and Samantha Ruggiero was designated district treasurer; both motions were made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board also voted to maintain membership in the New York State School Boards Association and the Sullivan County School Boards Association.
Members discussed who will serve as the district’s voting delegate and alternate delegates to county and state school board meetings and conventions. The board agreed to evaluate calendars and budget availability before finalizing travel for the New York State School Boards Association convention in Buffalo.
After a scheduling discussion that considered member availability and school calendars, the board voted to set regular meeting dates for Aug. 27, Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 and to try moving regular meeting start times to 5:30 p.m. for the coming year. President Halleck said the change would be reviewed if it appeared to disenfranchise members of the public or conflict with key events; the board noted budget workshops and other special meetings could remain at 6 p.m.
The meeting adjourned after routine consent business and scheduling confirmation. The board’s next regular meeting was set for Thursday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
