Director questions staffing for Pittsburgh Bridges Academy K–2 expansion

"My question was about 8.06 ... especially in the context of the Future Ready plan," Director Sope said, asking how the expansion would be coordinated and what specialized positions would be included.
Miss Solak, responding for the district, said the K–2 satellite site would use the same staffing model as other satellite sites: "So we would have 2 teachers, 2 paras, and a counselor, supporting that satellite site." She added that "The classroom would not have more than 8 students, at any time," and that the classroom would likely start next year with two or three students.
The exchange focused on both quantity and specialized roles needed to support the lower-grade cohort within the district's Future Ready framework. No vote or final decision was taken during the agenda-review meeting; the item remains on the board's calendar for further consideration.
The board is scheduled to hold a virtual public hearing on Monday ahead of a legislative meeting next Wednesday, where the proposal could receive additional review.
