San Antonio โ Committee members and courts staff confirmed a timeline for municipal judge reappointments and hiring tied to expiring judicial terms.
Judge Abledo reminded the committee that judges' current terms expire April 30 and that new terms start May 1. The judge outlined a proposed schedule: post job openings in mid-January, keep the application window open through mid-February, have the city attorney's office and the city clerk vet applicants, and begin interviews in mid- to late March so the committee can provide recommendations in time for the May 1 start date.
Chair Mickey Rodriguez said the committee will accommodate interviews on future agendas and work to meet the timeline. "We'll be diligently working to get all of your concerns and updates and presentations, agendas. But we also want to make sure that we're hitting those key timelines," Rodriguez said.
The committee did not take a formal vote on the hire schedule at the meeting but directed staff to proceed with posting and vetting under the outlined timeline.
