Eunice approves $17,000 Lea County grant to support Meals on Wheels for Monument residents

The Eunice City Council on March 23 approved Resolution No. 3539 to accept a $17,000 discretionary award from Lea County to support Meals on Wheels services for Monument residents.
Manager Shannon Cummins summarized the agreement and said the funds would be used and reported pursuant to the MOU's terms. Donna Roach, Senior Center Director, said the program currently has four volunteers serving clients and staff hope to enroll additional participants and connect them with homemaker services where appropriate. "We have 4 people that will service but hoping to get more," Roach said.
Councilor Erica Jones praised Roach's work on senior services. Councilor Steve Almager said he supported the program but recorded a "No" vote; the final roll call showed one dissenting vote (Almager) and six yes votes, and the motion carried.
The MOU covers program delivery and reporting; council did not read an itemized budget into the record beyond the $17,000 award amount.
