Senior class asks Eunice council to allow drug-free graduation celebration at city pool

Jazzy Clouse, a senior at Eunice High School, asked the City Commission on Feb. 9 to support the class of 2026's request to use the Eunice city pool for a drug-free, alcohol-free Senior Night Bash following graduation on May 17, 2026.
Clouse said the preferred time would be 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and the students would accept an adjusted 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. time if necessary. She told the council students could supply light towers for after-dark visibility, rely on several lifeguards who are over 18, and have parents present to chaperone the event. She said the students prefer to celebrate in Eunice but have contacted Jal schools as a backup venue if the city cannot accommodate the request.
"We would like to host a drug free and alcohol-free graduation celebration at the Eunice city pool," Clouse said, asking the council for their support in approving or proposing a resolution to allow use of the pool.
Mayor John Dean Davis and Councilor Ty Chanley thanked the senior class for attending. The transcript shows no formal council decision on the request at the Feb. 9 meeting; any permitting, time approval or required lifeguard staffing would need to be addressed in subsequent administrative or council action.
