Councilor Ty Chanley moved to adopt the resolution, seconded by Councilor Curtis Rouse. The roll-call vote was Ty Chanley — Yes; Roxie Luster — Yes; Erica Jones — Yes; Gustavo Castaneda — No; Curtis Rouse — Yes; Edward Charo — No. The motion carried.
Municipal Judge Carlton Glen Jenkins administered the oath of office following the vote. Newly sworn Councilor Sheryl Allen said she was “very honored to be part of the city council” and thanked members for the opportunity.
The appointment fills a vacancy created after the recent municipal election; the resolution makes the appointment effective immediately and directs the mayor and city clerk to complete administrative steps to finalize the vacancy fill. The council did not indicate any additional conditions attached to the appointment.
