The Eunice City Council on Jan. 5 adopted Resolution No. 3515, approving a FY2027 budget development timeline designed to align city budget work with New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) deadlines and to increase transparency for council, staff and the public.
City Manager Shannon Cummins described calendar milestones that run from committee meetings in January through final budget adoption in July, and said she will convene the finance committee Jan. 26 to begin the process. Councilor Erica Jones praised the timeline’s transparency and said it will help the public understand how and when budget decisions are made.
Council voted unanimously to approve the timeline. Manager Cummins said the timeline should allow staff and council to present a preliminary budget for review in May and to meet the DFA submission deadlines by late July.
