Eunice approves reduced local match for 15th Street MAP grant

The Eunice City Council on Jan. 5 approved an amendment to Contract No. D20724 that accepts a waiver reducing the city's local match for a Municipal Arterial Program (MAP) grant for 15th Street from $110,017 to $35,017.
City Manager Shannon Cummins told the council the amendment covers planning, design, construction, pavement rehabilitation, drainage and related improvements for 15th Street between Avenue J and Avenue L. Cummins said the city's reduced share is not included in the current budget and will be incorporated into next year’s budget planning.
“Approval of the 2027 Budget Development Timeline is necessary to provide a clear and organized process for preparing the city's budget,” Cummins said earlier in the meeting as the council discussed related timing for funding decisions.
Councilors voted to adopt Resolution No. 3516 by roll call; the motion carried unanimously. No public comment or alternate funding sources were raised during the discussion.
Next steps: the MAP contract amendment will be processed and the city's share will be presented during the FY2027 budget process for final appropriation.
