Committee recommends repurposing retired 2013 squad car for Municipal Operations

The Village of Bonduel Committee of the Whole on Feb. 25 recommended that the Village repurpose a retired 2013 police squad car as an extra vehicle for Municipal Operations.
Committee members heard that a replacement squad has been ordered and that the 2013 model will not be used as a trade-in. Municipal Operations said the vehicle was purchased from the general equipment budget and that the Village will incur decommissioning costs regardless of whether it sells or keeps the unit. Committee members discussed the low resale value and the potential usefulness of retaining the car as a transportation resource for Municipal Operations.
Sean Falk moved and Kay Zuleger seconded a recommendation to the Board to repurpose the 2013 vehicle for Municipal Operations once it is taken out of service; the motion carried unanimously. The committee did not specify a timeline for decommissioning or for when the vehicle would be made available to Municipal Operations beyond noting the vehicle will be decommissioned prior to transfer.
