Rocky Ridge council unanimously adopts FY 2026–2027 final budget after brief hearing

The council examined several line items during the hearing. Members discussed the Water Fund presentation and asked for clarification on how a $30,000 appropriated fund balance earmarked for a well house project is being shown in the enterprise fund and how it offsets depreciation expense for accounting presentation purposes. The council agreed to request explanation from the town's financial consultant, Pelorus, to ensure the fund's reporting and operating-balance presentation are clear.
Members also reviewed Roads and Cemetery budgets. A late request sought a $5,000 increase to the cemetery budget to add curbing, but council members said the request arrived too late in the budget process and no amendment was adopted at the hearing. Park items were discussed briefly: Benjamin proposed repairing the playground's dinosaur structure by filling damaged legs with sand and patching the exterior rather than replacing the fixture; council members indicated they believed the repairs could address safety concerns without immediate budget changes.
Council Member Andrew Aagard moved to adopt and finalize the FY 2026–2027 budget as presented; Council Member Byron Allred seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Mayor Allred declared the public hearing closed.
The council did not take further department-level actions at this special hearing; members said other departmental updates and agenda items would be addressed at the next regular Town Council meeting.
