Town of North East approves minutes, vehicle purchase, sign replacement and routine payments

The Town of North East board approved several motions during its Feb. 22, 2017 meeting:
- Approval of minutes: Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore moved and Commissioner Michael Kline seconded approval of the Feb. 8, 2017 minutes. Commissioners Eric Braley and Paul Stark abstained because they were not present at the Feb. 8 meeting.
- Ordinance adoption: The board adopted Ordinance No. 2017-02-01 (North East Zoning Ordinance Amendment) on a motion by Commissioner Michael Kline, seconded by Commissioner Paul Stark.
- Vehicle purchase: The board approved purchase of a 2017 Chevy Traverse for $27,738, with an additional $250 estimated for striping and decals. Mayor Robert F. McKnight said the vehicle would be used by Town Hall staff, particularly for Code Enforcement; Commissioner Michael Kline moved and Commissioner Paul Stark seconded the motion.
- Gateway sign replacement: Director of Finance Ken Natale reported the south gateway sign was damaged in a storm. The estimated replacement cost was $6,935 with a $1,000 insurance deductible. Commissioner Paul Stark moved and Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore seconded the replacement motion, which passed.
- Appropriations: Commissioner Eric Braley moved and Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore seconded approval of the invoices presented for payment; the motion was approved.
The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m. after a motion by Commissioner Paul Stark, seconded by Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore.
