Cascade County Commission approves tax cancellations, tentative FY2027 budget and audit contract; copier contracts pulled for legal review

On the budget, Trista Besich presented a tentative interim operating budget for fiscal year 2027. The board adopted a tentative interim operating budget effective July 1, 2026, in the amount of $83,979,458 by a 2-0 vote. The commission also approved Contract 26-72, a proposal from BakerTilly to perform fiscal-audit services for fiscal years 2026–2028, and instructed staff to complete the contracting process; that motion carried 2-0.
Earlier in the meeting the board voted to approve purchase orders and accounts-payable warrants. The consent agenda was amended after Carey Ann Haight, Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney, advised that Contracts 26-68 through 26-71 (four copier purchase agreements) had not been approved by legal; Commissioner Hinebauch moved to remove those four contracts from the consent agenda for further edits, and the amendment carried 2-0.
