Cook Memorial Library plans June 20 celebration to mark lift, solar and grant projects

Cook Memorial Library trustees said at their May 11 meeting that the library will host a public celebration on Saturday, June 20, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. to showcase recent grant-funded projects, including an accessibility lift and a solar installation, and to highlight work supported by the CLiF grant and the library's strategic-plan process.
Mary Cronin, the library director, said the board was drafting an invitation list that will include the Planning Board, Selectboard, the town Energy Committee, the Tamworth Foundation, the Friends of Cook Memorial Library, a representative from the Brett School, an Executive Councilor, the Conway Daily Sun and the State Dept. of Energy. The meeting minutes note that the Energy Committee intends to have a table set up outdoors and that a Selectboard representative will speak; Karl Behr, the board's Selectboard representative, offered that someone from the Selectboard would address attendees.
Trustees discussed logistics: refreshments and speeches are planned, and Courtney SpaldingMayer offered to coordinate with the Friends to organize food if the Friends can provide it. Cronin said she will set up a screen to show library usage in real time and will share copies of recent electric bills to illustrate the solar installation's impact. Invitations will be sent promptly and board members asked colleagues to forward additional suggestions for invitees to the director.
The celebration is billed as a public, informational event to highlight accessibility and energy improvements funded through grants; the board noted it would be an opportunity to thank financial supporters and community partners. The board did not set a formal program of speakers in the minutes beyond the Selectboard representation and an Energy Committee presence.
