For baseball, the minutes note about 10 athletes are attending open gyms regularly; organizers are aiming for roughly 15 to field fuller rosters. The first game rosters showed seven varsity and five JV players. Softball is slated to start a little earlier than baseball, with C. Preston and Ian Grande listed as coaches and a similar structure to baseball.
The committee expressed concern that many basketball practices over the Christmas break were held in Tower City, creating transportation challenges for Hope‑Page athletes. Members said scheduling changes must be communicated promptly and divided equitably between the cooperating schools to avoid uneven burdens.
To build program depth, members discussed adding a third coach to the girls' and boys' basketball staffs if participation supports it. The committee said it will review how many teams could field C‑Squads (which help transition younger players to JV/varsity) to justify a third coach. Any change to allow a third coach would require CO‑OP board approval and may require bylaw adjustments for flexibility.
The committee also noted the Remind app is working well for coach‑to‑parent communications and encouraged consistent use among coaches.
The CO‑OP plans to review C‑Squad numbers and bylaw language at its May meeting to determine whether to proceed with staffing changes.
