The meeting record shows routine “aye” votes for these items and the motions carried without recorded dissent.
Bill Barker, of the Surveyor’s office, told the council, “Our cumulative drain fund has roughly $3,000,000,” and said the $50,000 draw will support construction and reconstruction work. Patty Dickens Clark of the Clerk’s office described failures in prior tabulators and defended the replacement: the new equipment will update software and reduce blank‑ballot problems that delayed reporting in 2024.
Highway Department staff said the Bridge 252 project will be processed as a local project with an 80% federal reimbursement under the Local Public Agency program; county officials said that means the county expects to be reimbursed for 80% of eligible costs when the project is completed.
Judiciary and youth program appropriations approved included a $25,000 Supreme Court interpreter grant allocation, an $80,000 juvenile detention alternative initiative appropriation, $90,000 from a school lunch program grant to reimburse meal costs in the county detention center, and two community corrections grants totaling about $327,242 that fund personnel and program costs. Planning and development received approval for a net appropriation of $198,505 for GIS work after offsetting reductions were applied.
The council also approved transfers listed in the auditor’s office and moved to create an explicit lane‑mile direct distribution fund (Fund 1242) for highway accounting. Most motions in this package were approved by voice vote with unanimous support, and clerical roll call votes were used where required.
The council adjourned after concluding business and offering a brief public comment opportunity with no speakers stepping forward.
