Madera County certifies June 2 primary results; clerk details turnout and verification work

Rebecca Martinez, Madera County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters, asked the Board of Supervisors to accept and adopt the certified results from the June 2, 2026 primary election.
"Madera County had a 39.59 voter turnout, which is kind of consistent with the state average," Martinez said, and briefed the board on the office's workload: staff removed 32,632 ballots from blue ID envelopes, extracted 65,264 cards (because some ballots had two cards) and verified 30,320 signatures during processing.
Martinez noted an outside group had requested that the county not certify the election, alleging fraud, but said certification can only be stopped by a court order. She asked the board to accept the certified results and "declare the winners that are reflected in the document." (Rebecca Martinez.)
After questions and praise for elections staff from supervisors, the board voted to adopt the certification by roll call; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
What's next: The clerk will proceed with post-certification procedures and public record-keeping; Martinez said the office will continue to respond to public-records requests related to the election.
