Safety committee orders TEC traffic study for Madisonville West intersection; members to research e‑bike rules

The committee obtained two quotes for the study—$6,500 from one firm and $4,800 from TEC Engineering—and voted to proceed with TEC’s $4,800 proposal, contingent on possible cost sharing with the Mariemont School District for solar‑powered flashing signs.

Committee chair Alicia Stock and members described resident complaints about crosswalk safety and an incident involving a bicycle and a Kroger delivery truck. The police department said it has increased radar enforcement and has issued some citations but has not observed a pervasive speeding problem. Committee members discussed interim safety measures such as temporary enforcement during school drop‑off and the potential traffic impacts of introducing stop signs at peak times.

The committee also reviewed resident complaints about e‑bikes, scooters and moto‑style dirt bikes. Members noted other municipalities (including Terrace Park) have revised ordinances to classify micro‑mobility devices and limit certain motorized models.
