Chair Nancy Butler opened the Plympton Council on Aging Board meeting at 10:30 a.m. on June 9, 2026. The board approved the minutes from May 12 and accepted the resignation of driver Dennis Dries, whose last day will be Wednesday, June 17, Director Colleen Thompson said.

Director Colleen Thompson reported that the Friends of the Council on Aging treasury holds $6,755.26 and that the June raffle raised $110. Administrative Assistant Jean Pacheco reported warrants for May totaled $1,789.95 and that the food pantry served 20 people across 11 households.
On transportation and personnel, Thompson said she accepted Driver Dennis Dries’ resignation and that his last day will be June 17. She noted that GATRA service remains available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thompson also said newly elected Selectman Dan Cardigan has expressed interest in filling Plympton’s GATRA board seat and that Thompson will step down from that role.
Thompson relayed that resident Randy Sullivan offered yard-work services (contact given in the meeting record) and that information is available about using formula-grant–supplemented handyman services. She also announced there will be no Veterans’ Breakfast in July or August.
Thompson described a miscommunication at the June 3 salad-and-sandwich luncheon: Cpt. Sjostedt had reserved seats but did not inform Chief Duddy, and as a result a PFD/PPD representative was not present; Interim Town Administrator Bob Fennessey attended and visited multiple tables.
The Historical Society’s upcoming programming was reviewed: History at Play will perform on June 13 at 2:00 p.m., with Judith Kalaora portraying Deborah Sampson. The board confirmed a July 29 talk by Nancy Franks about the Great Molasses Flood (time to be announced) and an August 12 barbecue at the Upland Club at noon, with entertainment by "Bombshell Betty." A contact card for a '60s band (booked through 2027) was presented for possible future booking.
The board set its next meeting for July 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. and adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
