The Edgecombe County Board of Education approved a package of contract renewals and new vendor agreements to provide student-support services for the 2026–27 school year.
The board approved a renewal with North Carolina Driving School Inc. for driver education services from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The contract maintains classroom instruction at $70 per pupil and behind-the-wheel training at $230 per pupil for a total of $300 per pupil; staff estimated an aggregate contract amount of approximately $180,000 based on enrollment projections.
The board also approved contracts for occupational therapy (Kinetic Pediatric Therapy), speech-language pathology services (Kids Speak, Inc.) and day-treatment services (Progressive Care Services) to support students with special needs and for ACD classroom placements. Staff noted that some providers are not fully staffed yet and that modifications or supplemental vendors may be considered as needed.
All contracts were approved by voice vote. Staff will finalize contract paperwork and monitor provider staffing and service delivery during the coming school year.
