Charlemont Board of Assessors reorganizes, approves warrants and enters executive session

The Charlemont Board of Assessors reorganized at its June 1, 2026 meeting. On a motion by Karen Rau and seconded by Anthony Ostroski, Andrea Santos was nominated to serve as the next chair; Santos accepted and the motion passed unanimously.

The board unanimously approved minutes from its April 6 and May 4, 2026 meetings on a motion by Karen Rau and a second by Anthony Ostroski. The board then voted unanimously on a motion by Andrea Santos, seconded by Anthony Ostroski, to approve and sign three items: the warrant to collector and notice of commitment for the 2026 motor vehicle excise commitment #3; the monthly list of real and personal property tax abatements for May 2026; and the monthly list of motor vehicle excise tax abatements for May 2026.

At 7:07 p.m., on a motion by Santos and seconded by Ostroski, the board voted unanimously to adjourn and enter executive session for purpose #7 (to comply with or act under the authority of any general or special law or federal grant-in-aid requirements) to deliberate on pending abatement and/or exemption applications, which pursuant to G.L. c.59, §60 are not open to public inspection. The board stated it would not reconvene in open session. Roll call votes were recorded as Santos — Yes; Ostroski — Yes; Rau — Yes.

The board set its next meeting for Monday, July 6, 2026. The meeting minutes were signed and filed by Carlene Hayden, the assessor’s clerk, who also provided the agenda, the minutes, the warrant and abatements lists, notes from her conversation with Catalis regarding AP5, and deeds for April 2026 as documents reviewed at the meeting.
