Onsted council accepts clerk resignation, hires treasurer and clerk and updates account signatories

The Onsted Village Council used a June 22 special meeting to make multiple personnel changes and to update financial account signatories.

Trustee Shannon Kropp’s resignation-motion to take minutes was approved before the council moved through a series of staffing items. The council accepted the resignation of Interim Clerk/Treasurer Scott Holtz and voted to remove Holtz from all village accounts and credit cards. Trustee Shannon Kropp moved to remove Cathy Wobrock from all accounts; that motion also passed.

The council approved hiring Sherry Lovins as Village Treasurer and approved adding the new treasurer as a signatory on all village accounts. Trustees also approved hiring Nicole Sumpter as Village Clerk (pending her acceptance and any required approvals) and adding the new clerk as a signatory on accounts. Both hires were recorded as approved; the clerk hire recorded six ayes with one nay from Trustee Steve Muth. Where tallies were not recorded the minutes note simply that motions carried.

Council discussed adding the Village President as an account signatory but tabled that item for a later meeting. The meeting included a general public-comment period in which one unnamed person spoke; the transcript does not identify or summarize that comment. Councilmember Mike Slick offered brief thanks to colleagues before the meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m.

Actions taken change the village’s administrative roster and who may sign on municipal accounts, but the minutes do not record effective dates for the personnel changes, nor do they include written employment agreements or bank authorization forms in the record.
