Miss Fisher, executive director of human resources, presented a year-end HR report highlighting recruitment, onboarding, recognition, mentoring and retention initiatives.
She described a refreshed recruitment brand, an expanded job-fair strategy (10 university job fairs plus a division-wide job fair), a redesigned jobs webpage, an employee referral bonus program (a $500 bonus per successful referral, which yielded 19 hires so far), and weekly in-person new-employee orientation sessions.
Miss Fisher said MCPS redesigned onboarding and launched recognition programs (SARP pins and new Impact Awards) and provided extensive mentor support for new teachers through several coaching and mentor programs. She said the division's licensed-staff retention rose to 93.4% as of June 16, up from 86.2% after the 2024–25 school year; support-staff retention was also reported to be over 90%.
Board members asked whether the six additional special-education FTEs identified in the budget presentation had been filled; HR staff said the positions were posted but would not be filled until funding was secured. Trustees also asked about the Meet and Confer selection process; Miss Fisher and staff explained that applications are sent via division email and school-level voting selects representatives for each employee group.
The board praised HR's reported results and asked staff to provide additional details as the division prepares for the 2026–27 school year.
