Middletown council approves treasurer's report; police note K9 drug seizure, planning updates

Chief of Police Gary Benedict Jr. reported that K9 Edo has been recertified and "recently assisted the Frederick County Sheriff's Office on a stop that yielded 9.47 grams of cocaine and 2.1 grams of fentanyl." Planning Commissioner Bill Kircher told the council the Planning Commission is awaiting a special use permit application from Steel Dog and plans submitted by Wawa. Mayor Harbaugh also reported community events: a Back‑to‑School event held Aug. 9 that drew about 500 children and the annual Main Street car show scheduled for Aug. 17 from 3–8 p.m. The mayor set a Work Session for Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
