Students sworn in; UMB Bank Charitable Foundation offers $15,000 grant for district programs

Following the installation, representatives from UMB Bank and the UMB Bank Charitable Foundation addressed the board and offered a $15,000 grant to support district initiatives including a community convening, strategic‑planning work and professional development for teachers. "On behalf of UMB Bank Charitable Foundation…we'd like to continue to be partners and hopefully stand for those initiatives that we like to grant $15,000," a UMB representative said.
Board members and administrators thanked the students and the corporate partners. District leaders said the funds will be used for stakeholder engagement, teacher professional development and literacy supports tied to the district strategic plan. No formal vote was required to accept the presentation; the board noted the donation and welcomed continued partnership.
The board and staff also highlighted student activities and awards tied to recent student leadership efforts, including Earth Day cleanup work and a Department of Transportation award for a cleanup drive.
The district’s student leaders introduced themselves during the meeting; the board noted the new officers will begin work immediately with support from staff sponsors.
