Douglas County approves two conditional-use permits for vehicle repair and equipment storage

The Board of Douglas County Commissioners unanimously approved two conditional use permits during its July 15 meeting to resolve zoning irregularities and allow specified industrial uses under conditions set by staff.
Commissioner Willie moved to approve conditional use permit UP-25-0008 for a small-scale industrial use at 1093 East 2400 Road and to adopt Resolution 26-10; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. County planners told the commission that a passerby had reported seeing automotive repair activities and a vehicle lift at the property, prompting zoning staff to determine the activity was not permitted without a CUP. Planner Drew said the activity could not be treated as a home occupation and the applicant sought small-scale industrial approval to come into conformance.
Commissioner Willie then moved to approve conditional use permit UP-26-0013 to allow heavy equipment storage at 1691 East 902 Road and to adopt Resolution 26-11; that motion also carried unanimously. Commissioner Anderson pointed out a typographical discrepancy in the site plan text that suggested a change to a detached-dwelling use; planner Eva Kerner confirmed the resolution and staff report correctly list the existing permitted use as a detached dwelling and said the site plan will be updated to match the approved documents.
Both applicants were not present to address the board during the public-comment portions of the items. The commission applied the findings and conditions listed in staff reports when approving both permits.
The approvals conclude the consent-agenda items for the evening; the commission recorded the actions as unanimous voice votes.
