MEGA presents $3,000 scholarships to two Clinton County seniors

Marco Veena, deputy director of the New York State Association of Counties and executive director of the Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance (MEGA), presented the MEGA member scholarship to two local high‑school seniors during the Clinton County Legislature meeting.
Veena said MEGA’s member scholarship awards $3,000 to graduating seniors from member communities who demonstrate strong academic achievement and plan to study STEM or public policy at a New York State college or university. He said MEGA received a competitive pool of applications statewide and that five came from Clinton County; two winners are from the county this year.
The two recipients are Lauren Davey of Peru Central School District, who Veena said ranks first in her class and will study biological engineering at Cornell University, and Logan Strickland of Beekman Town Central School District, who plans to study computer science and machine learning at Cornell.
The legislature welcomed the students for a brief recognition and a photo; no vote or legislative action was required for the presentation.
