The Village of North Bay Board of Review on June 15 adopted an amendment to its procedures to allow sworn telephone testimony and sworn written testimony in cases such as when a taxpayer is seriously ill.
Assessor Dan McHugh suggested the Board set guidelines limiting when telephone or written sworn testimony may be permissible, citing serious illness as an example. Trustee/Constable Rocco Castellano moved to approve the amendment and Vice Chair/Trustee Paul Schroder seconded. The minutes record the policy was ratified by a unanimous vote. Assessor McHugh said he will provide a template for the procedure to Clerk Dori A. Panthofer.
The minutes also note the Board reviewed a separate agenda item concerning waiver procedures for BOR hearing requests, but the record does not show detailed discussion or a final action on that specific item.
The Board confirmed statutory confidentiality requirements are met by the Village of North Bay Book of Ordinances Chapter 2.10(4)(d) under Wis. Stat. § 70.47(7)(af).
