At its Oct. 2 meeting, the Salem Township Planning Commission voted unanimously to advertise a special informational meeting in November to solicit public comment on proposed amendments to the township's Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO).
Township Solicitor Gary Falatovich told the commission he would like to see two SALDO provisions revised promptly: a provision authorizing the township to charge solicitor, engineering and other application-related fees and collect developer escrows, and clearer definitions distinguishing minor and major subdivisions, land developments and side-lot additions where sewage facilities planning may not apply. Falatovich said revising these sections would help prevent future disputes and ensure developers, not residents, bear related application costs.
Commissioners Paul Holleran, John Durco and Chair Connie Mattei voted to advertise the informational meeting; the motion passed unanimously. The commission also voted unanimously to adjourn; members set the next regular meeting for Nov. 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. if there is an agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:49 p.m.
The advertised informational meeting will allow members of the public to comment on the proposed SALDO text changes before the Planning Commission advances any formal ordinance amendments to the Board of Supervisors.
