The Markesan Common Council voted on Nov. 11 to buy a new sewer jetter from Envirotech Equipment for $92,610, funding the purchase from the Water/Wastewater Replacement Fund.
The motion, made by Ald. Abendroth and seconded by Ald. Triemstra, passed on a 5-0 roll call vote. Council members present for the vote were Ald. Abendroth, Ald. Thiem, Ald. Triemstra, Ald. Prill (by phone) and Ald. Lager (by phone); Ald. Kazda was absent. Mayor Slate presided.
Council discussion before the vote focused on replacing aging equipment used for sewer cleaning and maintenance; no alternative funding source was specified during the meeting. The approval authorizes staff to proceed with the purchase from Envirotech Equipment and use the Water/Wastewater Replacement Fund to cover the cost.
