Eunice board shares community announcements: pageant winners, cleanup event, trick-or-treat and Fire Prevention Week

At its Sept. 9 meeting the mayor and aldermen introduced local pageant winners, announced a Keep Eunice Beautiful cleanup on Sept. 20, set Trick-or-Treat hours for Oct. 30 (6–8 p.m.), and noted Fire Prevention Week events Oct. 5–11 and a Fire Department retirement.
The Eunice board used the opening portion of its Sept. 9 meeting for community announcements and introductions.
Alderman Randall Reed presented the 2025–2026 Eunice Pageant Organization queens (Tiny Miss through Miss Eunice). The mayor invited the 2025 Cajun Mardi Gras Festival queens — Akashaa Hall (Miss), Landri Young (Miss Teen) and Emma Reed (Junior Miss) — to introduce themselves; Miss Hall listed festivals and events the queens attended on behalf of the festival.
Donna Baltakis, chair of Keep Eunice Beautiful, announced a cleanup event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20 with sign-up at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center and encouraged participation by businesses and community groups. The mayor also announced Trick-or-Treat hours for Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Fire Chief Chaise Brown reported Fire Department activities for August and announced Fire Captain Blake Smith’s retirement and the department’s participation in Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5–11. Jena Donaldson delivered the library’s August activity report.
