The Village of Lannon Board approved several routine permits and contracts during its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting, voting unanimously on each item.
Temporary crushing permit: Engineer Ben Wood offered no objections to Lemke Stone’s temporary crushing permit. Jason Lemke explained the need for short-term crushing, saying noise and disruption are minimal at this time of year and that operations would run from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Trustee Lake moved to approve the permit and Trustee Grennier seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Mid-City water contract: The board reviewed a renewal of the Mid-City water operator contract for 2026, noting a $100 per month increase. Members said Mid-City has been performing satisfactorily; Lake moved to approve the contract, Moore seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Meeting minutes note that a Mid-City representative named Sarah keeps the Village informed.
Birchwood Drive manhole repair: Residents had raised concerns about pavement depression around a manhole that has caused the ring to snap during snowplow operations. Inspections by Sussex and Mid-City found the pavement was depressing; Mid-City quoted $6,500 for the repair (time and materials) to saw-cut, pour concrete and install a new ring. The board authorized the repair not to exceed $6,500; members noted that additional pavement work around the manhole may be needed in spring.
Other routine business: Trustees approved payment of the bills and heard reports from the Clerk and Police Department, including a police-led $2,000 effort to support local families and coordination with schools to identify needs. The board adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
