Crisfield staff outlined a low-income starter-homes initiative: one home is complete (329 Tyler Street), seven more are planned across eight donated or city-owned lots, and the city will hold a home-buyer seminar and open house on July 18, 2026.
"Project Fire Glass, we have one home completed. It is up. It is finished," said Jennifer Floyd, the presenter. Floyd said residents from Crisfield will be prioritized for the houses, and the city will host a home-buyer seminar at the Corbin Library from 10 a.m. to noon on July 18 that will explain financing options and required home-buyer education courses. An open house for the finished home at 329 Tyler Street will follow so attendees can see a completed unit.
Staff also described plans to issue an RFP to solicit developers to build on remaining donated parcels (several on Chesapeake Avenue and other city lots). One house built by a Long-Term Recovery group already has an applicant; the model allows proceeds from a sale to fund future builds. Council and staff said they will publish the RFP this month and support applicants through qualification and sale processes.
