City staff updated the council on the armory renovation and asked permission to apply for a DHCD grant to continue HVAC and remaining remediation work.
"Mold remediation is complete. We got a certificate that it is mold free, so we can actually go in," Miss Collins said. Staff described ongoing electrical and HVAC work, phased HVAC upgrades and an in-kind contribution (about $14,000 for reporting and permitting time). The requested DHCD grant amount was presented as approximately $250,000; staff said that would not cover all remaining work and additional phases would follow.
Council moved and approved permission to apply for the DHCD grant. Staff said the application deadline is August 6 and that the armory project has been the subject of earlier investments; once funded and constructed the facility could be used for community events and programming.
