Council approved staff's request to apply for a DHCD match to complement an earmark for planning a new fire station and emergency shelter.
"The earmark was for about 1.3, and it requires a match of $452,500," said the staff presenter. The project would fund engineering and architectural feasibility, wetland mitigation, bid-ready design, final architectural plans, site preparation and access-road and utility work to prepare the site for construction.
Councilmember S5 moved to authorize the city to apply for the DHCD match; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the grant application is due August 6 and the city will apply for the full match amount.
