Council rejects proposal to move regular meetings to 5:30 p.m.

Chilson said he believed it would be worth revisiting the issue later but would vote against the measure.
Councilmember Carey said discussions with colleagues and community input had changed his mind about supporting the change, noting the concern that an earlier start could make it “more difficult for someone who would like to serve on the council to serve because there’s not enough time from when they’d get off work to be here.”
With no public comment, the clerk called the roll. The vote was recorded as five no votes; the resolution failed 0–5.
Council members said they might revisit the schedule in the future but did not adopt the proposed change.
