Ridgeway council approves minutes, small community grants, awning replacement and schedules budget hearings

At its April 1 meeting the council approved March minutes and the February treasurer’s report, authorized $100 for the Bee City Festival and $350 to the Ridgeway Branch Library, accepted an awning replacement quote from Dize Company ($3,324.99), and scheduled a budget work session and two public hearings.
The Ridgeway Town Council at its April 1 meeting approved routine business and several small appropriations and procurement actions.
Maeve McCulloch moved, seconded by Brad Hairston, to approve the March 2025 minutes; the motion passed. Mike Bass moved, seconded by Tim Wood, to approve the February 2025 Treasurer’s Report; the motion passed.
In community development business, Jean Hammond reported on the Bee City Festival planned for May 3, 2025. McCulloch moved, seconded by Bass, to authorize an additional $100 to support the event; that motion passed. McCulloch then moved, seconded by Hairston, to send $350 to the Ridgeway Branch Library for an April 12, 2025 Easter program; that motion also passed.
On old business, Ronnie Garren presented two bids to replace the awning covers on the town building: J.W. Squire Company ($3,700.00) and Dize Company ($3,324.99). Mike Bass moved, seconded by McCulloch, to accept the lower Dize Company quote; the motion passed.
The council set a budget work session for April 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mayor’s Office and scheduled two public hearings for May 6, 2025: 6:00 p.m. to consider changing personal property and real estate due dates, and 6:30 p.m. for citizen input on the 2025‑26 budget. The council also changed the start time of its next regular meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The next meeting was scheduled for May 6, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. On a duly made motion by Bass and seconded by McCulloch, council adjourned.
