Resident criticizes village mobile‑home park permit fees; board offers review of fee schedule

A long public comment period included an extended statement from a resident (S8) who challenged the village's mobile‑home park permit and inspection fees and questioned their fairness and enforcement.

The resident said she had repeatedly sought information from village staff and believes other municipalities do not impose the same charges. "Nobody else in the villages or towns do these permits nor do they charge that exorbitant amount of money," she said, adding she had provided the board with paperwork and expected answers (Resident, S8).

The resident also said inspections were inconsistently enforced and that park landlords — who lease land while tenants own homes — were being charged for tenant units. "I lease the land. So why am I being responsible and being charged for a tenant's home?" she asked.

Trustees responded that staff would review the fee schedule and enforcement practice and suggested a work session to analyze licensing, inspection responsibilities and comparative municipal practices. Chair (S1) noted that fee schedule changes would be vetted through a formal process and asked S8 to submit supporting documentation. "If we're going to make a decision on changing fees, start the work now and come up with suggestions," a trustee said, and the board agreed to revisit the schedule in a dedicated session.

Other public commenters raised questions about police and street department contract negotiations and about crosswalks and traffic‑safety improvements; trustees requested written materials and offered to follow up with DOT where appropriate.
