Board hires seasonal aide, discusses volunteer sidewalk inventory and summer program support

The Village Board approved hiring Robbie Lonsbury as a summer recreation aide at $16 per hour through Aug. 7 and amended earlier hiring motions to add explicit end dates for seasonal and temporary roles.
Chair (S1) introduced summer staff Gabrielle, Sheila and Maria and thanked local groups, including Kiwanis and school sports boosters, for providing lunches and support for the program. "You guys just want to try to meet you with the guys... thank you," the chair told the staff during introductions (S1).
Trustees discussed program costs and staffing levels and then moved to hire Lonsbury; the motion carried on a voice vote with no opposition recorded. The board also agreed to amend prior motions so that seasonal hires have clear appointment end dates (Aug. 7 in these motions).
Separately, the chair proposed forming a volunteer sidewalk and streetscape inventory team to collect condition data (sidewalk gaps, curb ramps, trees) that could be used in planning and grant applications. Trustees discussed using volunteer in‑kind hours as part of match documentation for the comprehensive‑plan grant and assigning a volunteer or staff member to compile the collected data.
