At the May 27 meeting the committee received two informational updates: staff reported that the police department has issued citations to DMI for ordinance violations and the village had received two quitclaim deeds related to the YMCA property.
A staff member told the committee citations have been issued through the police department for ordinance violations and that DMI had not responded; a court date is scheduled in June and staff will see whether DMI is represented at that hearing. Committee members asked staff to inform them when the court date is confirmed.
Separately, the Chair provided copies of two quitclaim deeds for the YMCA property (dated 1957 and 1990) and said village counsel (Nick) reviewed the documents and indicated they likely are not valid after more than 30 years without certain required actions; the Chair said no committee action would be taken at this time and the deed materials were for informational purposes and to make trustees aware of the status.
Outcome and next steps: Committee will receive the DMI court-date update when available and will provide the YMCA deed materials to the full board as informational correspondence.
