Marion County approves HVAC, security and DA staffing items in consent agenda

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on July 8 approved a consent agenda that included three items aimed at facility upgrades and public-safety staffing.
The board approved a Public Improvement Agreement with TraneOregon for $888,835 to replace ten rooftop heating, ventilation and air-conditioning units and four heat-recovery units at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center, with work and contract coverage through Dec. 31, 2026. The agenda packet described the work as a replacement of aged rooftop HVAC equipment.
The board also approved Amendment #6 to a contract with Advanced Security Inc., adding $1,650,000 for a new not-to-exceed total of $3,450,000 to continue unarmed security, vehicular patrol and walking patrol services at multiple Marion County Health and Human Services locations through Dec. 31, 2028.
Finally, the board approved Amendment #1 to an interdepartmental agreement with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, adding $126,000 for a new not-to-exceed IDA total of $230,594 to continue funding a 0.7 full-time-equivalent Deputy District Attorney Three (DDA3). The DDA3 position is identified in the agenda as managing mental-health cases, including aid-and-assist matters, in support of the county’s jail diversion efforts through June 30, 2027.
Commissioner Danielle Bethell moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Kevin Cameron seconded. The motion carried with Bethell and Cameron voting aye; Commissioner Colm Willis was absent.
The board recorded no additional action items and adjourned at 9:18 a.m.
