At its Nov. 13 meeting, the Fountain City Park‑Rec/Cemetery Committee reviewed a request to plant a memorial tree in the city cemetery and emphasized the need for additional information before approval. Members said they require the proposed tree species and a watering and maintenance plan and discussed potential costs to remove trees that fail to establish.
Committee members also began planning for Fountain City’s 190th anniversary (1839–2029). Initial ideas include a parade and a fireworks display; the committee will seek community feedback on activities and dates as planning continues.
Separately, the committee discussed staging a series of small micro‑events to showcase auditorium renovations and build anticipation before a planned Halloween‑themed masquerade gala as the grand reveal. The committee assigned members to compile ideas for the micro‑events and the gala as renovation completion approaches.
No formal approvals for plantings or event budgets were recorded during the meeting.
