Viking provided three repair estimates: a full interior sandblast of roof, walls and floor for $152,300 (Option 1); roughening and taking belly and risers to metal for $142,700 (Option 2); and an interior wet brush blast to remove surface shine for $95,800 (Option 3). Dusek recommended Option 1, saying it would be “in our best interest” to pay the approximately $9,600 premium to take the finish down to bare metal and complete a total rehab.
Councilmember Brad Burianek moved to approve Viking Painting, LLC Change Order #1 selecting Option 1 for $152,300, and Councilmember Greg Young seconded. On a roll-call vote, Councilmembers Brad Burianek, Kylen Kostrzewski, Donavon McMillian, Loree Osowski, Phil Ray, Darrin Wollitz and Greg Young voted in favor; none opposed. One council position remained vacant. Mayor Chris West declared the motion carried.
The special meeting began at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers and was adjourned at 5:35 p.m. after the council’s action. The minutes list Nick Ziegelmann, Ed Sevigny, Tom Dusek and Jeff Daley as other attendees; the minutes are signed by Mayor Chris West and Wanda Ensrude, City Auditor.
