Grafton awards $260,000 lime slaker contract and approves engineering for 5th Street project

Moore Engineering recommended and the council voted to award the lime slaker replacement construction contract to CC Steel for $260,000, with the award contingent on approval from the funding agency. The contingency was recorded in the motion and staff noted that work will not proceed until funding authorization is received.
Jeff Daley presented a construction engineering agreement with KLJ Engineering for the 5th Street Shoulder Widening Project (School Road to McHugh Avenue) for a not-to-exceed arrangement of $67,000 on an hourly basis; Daley said actual time may be less depending on project needs. Daley told the council Knife River expects to begin the project the week of July 12 and estimates roughly four weeks of work, with one lane of traffic maintained and access preserved to nearby park and campground facilities. Daley also reported that the contractor for the water tower has returned and interior painting is expected to finish within a couple weeks.
All motions related to these projects passed on roll call votes by the five members present. The award of the CC Steel contract is contingent on outside funding approval and therefore requires follow-up when the funding agency responds.
