Malden splash pad nears completion; Autumn Fest set for Oct. 10

City staff reported the new splash pad is nearly complete but remains delayed pending parts; the Park Board was told the facility is expected to open at the end of the month.
Board members discussed how the splash pad will be monitored, what rules will apply and how maintenance will be handled once it opens. No final operating rules or staffing plans were recorded in the minutes.
The board scheduled Autumn Fest for Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Board Member Tomorro Antwine moved the date and Board Member Earnest Fobbs seconded the motion, which carried 6–0.
Members also discussed swings and other equipment needs at MLK Park and reviewed tree-trimming and rental-rate issues related to the RV parks; no final votes were taken on RV-park rates and the board deferred that discussion to a future meeting.
The board adjourned at 6:51 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for July 15 at 5:30 p.m.
